I'd like to know what kind of birds like to eat peanuts in Central AZ. -Thanks, Ken

Hi Ken

haven't got a clue old boy. BUT if you get Chickadees I'd imagine they would go for them. Our Blue and Great Tits (which are very similar) go for nuts. At the moment the humble House Sparrow is a permanent fixture on the nut feeders.

These will, if they are in the area:
Bridled Titmouse
Juniper Titmouse
Mountain Chickadee
Red-breasted Nuthatch
White-breasted Nuthatch
Pygmy Nuthatch

oooh, great, now all i have to do is convince my mom to buy some peanuts to attract red-breasted nuthatches before spring comes... In NY, the Red-Breasted Nuthatch winters in the soutern tip, to just above where the Connecticut border meets the NY border. The rest of the state has red-breasts as year-round residents. So I'd better hurry...

If you don't get one at home, take a day trip up to the Catskills - they should be common there in the mountains. They like conifer woods (that's the other clue - look around any local conifer woods while they're still close to where you live).

Hi Gthang,

Trees like pine trees, spruce trees, etc. Here's a pic of the sort of trees you want to look for them in

we have a couple of trees (like the ones you have in the picture) on our property, but i'm not sure if they're habitable. The trees lining our driveway look awfully dead, and the trees lining the road don't look so good either. the only good one is the one right in front of the house. And we decorate it every christmas....
