Hi all, Newby here and just exploring different avenues for info, so any help appreciated.

Whilst looking after my fathers house recently, during their holiday, I found over a dozen holes in the lawn. I thought initially rabbits, as he lives in the country and they are not uncommon.

A couple of days later I saw wood pigeons pecking and scraping at the lawn...making holes around 6 inches round and up to 2 inches deep?

Any idea what they might be forraging for and how to stop them?

Having lived in the countryside for over 30 years, I have never seen this happen to the law before.

Thanks in advance peeps

Neil

I have Pigeons in my garden that do exactly the same, in fact I posted about it here somewhere.

It took me a while to work it out, but they were digging for nuts that they saw the Squirrels bury. They have no idea where to look, but every once in a while they find one, this gives them confidence, so they keep digging.

Of course your situation might be totally different.

Edit: I just found the post I mentioned:
