Hi, just thought I'd ask if anyone has paid a visit recently as I'm planning a trip next week to see the pied flys and redstarts. I'm wondering if the birds are there in numbers yet and if you've a good chance of seeing either?

any info is most appreciated, Thanks.

Pied Flycatchers are not too difficult at the moment, but redstarts are proving a little more difficult this year but there are some there. There are also good number of Wood Warbler about at the moment, so well worth a visit.

We were there last week, had pied fly and wood warbler at Nagshead, and redstarts near the Speech House which isn't too far away. There are also Dipper locally

Thank you both, a trip sounds promising, just hope the weather changes after the weekend.

Thanks again for the info.

Haven't seen any Redstarts there for some time now, but Nuthatches, Pied flycatchers, Wood Warblers, and even a Tree Pipit all in attendance over the last month. Nagshead is a lovely little reserve; tranquil, good facilities, and Parkend, the village where it's located has 3 other sites on interest too; there are Dippers behind the Fountain Lodge, by the Church there are Hawfinches (none at the time of posting) and at a view point, called New Fancy, on the edge of the village you're almost guaranteed to see a Goshawk. nagshead nature trails (http://www.fountaininnandlodge.co.uk/rspb_nagshead_reserve.html)
