Hi all,

Hope you can help with an irratating problem that has just surfaced....

Using a Nikon D90 with a Sigma 150-500mm OS Len, which up until three days ago was running perfectly and taking some nice shots. Love the lens and the camera. Both pieces of kit are three months old.
Three days ago I am out birding and taking a few shots when all of a sudden the camera won't fire off a shot, won't autofocus, effectively locks up. A few minutes later it's fine again, no problems the rest of the day.
Yesterday a repeat of the same problem, only this time twice. Then today on a full day out the same thing several times, including an hour where it was coming and going and driving me insane.
The camera body seems fine, tried my Nikkor 50-105mm Lens and it is shooting beautifully. As soon as the sigma went back on it locked temporarily, showing the display below, no F Stop is selected and when the shooting button is depressed the figure 1.0 in the bottom right changes under ISO-AUTO and reads r 13. This I have noticed is the same display shown when the camera body has no lens attached.
I am thinking the cameras electronic connection to the lens is weak, losing and regaining the lens as a result.
Anyone have any advice, experience of anything simular, your input would be greatly appreciated. Am thinking the lens sholud go straight back, though am new to DSLR's and am wondering if I am missing something....

I've had that happen a few times myself. Definately a loose connection. I suppose the Sigma bayonette tolerances are a little off. Removing the lens and then reattaching with a good, tight twist fixes it.

cheers,
Rick
