Hi staying 2 miles North East of Haltwhistle over the Bank holiday and was wondering if there are good local birding/wildlife spots e.g Red Squirrels, grouse, dipper etc nearby?
thanks

The riverbank near Featherstone Castle is good for dipper, sand martin, oyster catcher, grey wagtail & buzzard. I saw all of these on Monday afternoon plus common sandpiper.

Hi Neil
Have a look at page 185 of the Northumberland thread, there has been a few sites in the Haltwhistle area mentioned. http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=36750&page=185

Hi Neil have sent PM, live near Haltwhistle so may be able to help out. At mo I'm onboard ship steaming up river Clyde back to our base and once there I'll be driving home later this evening. If you'd be more specific in what your target species are!
Are you staying in Scotchcoulthard area?
