Off to the Farnes next week for the first time, trying to decide between the tripod or the monopod. Could anyone who has visit relay their experience of either. Will be using 30d with sig 150-500.

Monopod if anything at all.

A monopod should be fine. A tripod would be too cumbersome unless it is a windy day when you will need the extra stability.

If its that windy I doubt they would land the boat.

I've only been the once and took a tripod and was very glad I did. Sure a fair bit of the time I was shooting handheld and at short focal lengths but soem fo the shots I got would simply not have worked without a tripod.

I should take a monopod you can probably use the OS with it which you won't be able to with a tripod.

Actually do what Pete says, better to have it and not use than be left wishing you had.

thanks for all the responses, think I will take the tripod if windy and if it looks if the weather will hold the monopod
