Slightly off topic but seems amusing for this optics geek at least.
The new iPhone 3G S front glass gets an oleophobic coating.

Seems so appropriate as that's where you are putting your mitts all the time. As opposed to a bin where you get the finger prints when you mess up.
I'm sure the well equipped birder now needs an alpha bin with hydrophobic and oleophobic coating and a new iPhone 3G S see he can Tweet his rarities whilst still in the field ;)
