Im thinking of upgrading from an eos450d to a eos50d, Will there be much difference in picture quality and what other benefits will there be if any ,Im useing a canon ef100-400mm lens and use it for bird watching only.

I have neither camera so speak from ignorance but suspect you would see little difference but would be interested to hear from anyone who has done the swap.

You'll probably notice the faster frame rate and better build quality the most. I suspect the AF will be better too.

I had the 450d and its a super camera, the main difference will be fps and it makes a lot of difference in burst mode when you want to pick out a certain frame, IE, the beat of the wings. Yes with out doubt the build quality, and I put a battery grip on and it just feels great and balanced with the 400mm f5.6. I cannot say I can see much difference in the quality of the picture, take a look at my gallery for pics with both cameras. It will fit nicely with the 100-400mm
