View Full Version : My waterproof binoculars (Audubon Equinox) has a foggy lens?

The left hand side of the binos are now 95% foggy, and there are noticable droplets of water inside the lens.

Is there any way to rid this fog in the inside? This is the opposite end of the eye-lens. Will a hairdryer work to somehow diffuse the moisture?

I really need help with this. I'm scared.

Call Vortex. The Audubon line is discontinued, but is a Vortex product. They will fix it. You will be without them for as long as that takes, but no reason to be scared. Vortex has one of the best warranty/customer service polices/philosophy that exists in the optics industry.

I dont think you should try to dry it with heat or any other means..It can actually cause harm to coatings ,armor ,etc...Just contact the manufacturer,(Vortex)and they will repair or,most likely, replace your binoculars.
Good luck

I just hope this is cost-free because a friend of mine lent me those binoculars. Because it is a lifetime warranty, and because the binocular is 'waterproof' yet it still leaked in water, does that make a good grounds for free repairs?

Thanks :-)

I have used Vortex warranty several times. They run the VIP warranty just exactly like they wrote it. Chances of being charged are next to zero. The warranty goes with the binocular, not with the original owner.

Sorry to bother you all again (I am a prime birding/binocular noob), but Audubon is now part of Vortex, so Vortex will have zero problem accepting this bino, correct?
