Does anyone think Canon will drop the price or offer cashback on the 50d in the next months? Thanks.

Who knows what the future holds? Of course there is a good chance of an official price drop or cash back some time, especially when the 60D comes out, but who knows what will happen to exchange rates, which have had a major influence on prices in the last six months.

FWIW I bought my 50D last October with an 8GB Extreme III card for £832 delivered from Digital Rev (Hong Kong stock). That price included a 5% cash back from Paypal. Today the 50D costs £774 delivered for the body only or £801 delivered including the card.

You will not get Canon UK warranty but you will save £44 on the best UK price for the body only. When I bought mine the saving over the UK price at the time was about £140, I think. I think for the sake of peace of mind I might pay the extra £44 and buy from the UK, or then again perhaps not, but I thought I'd post in case you fancy a foreign bargain. I've had no problems with the camera and would happily recommend Digital Rev, having also bought lenses from their eBay shop a couple of years ago too.

I'm toying with the idea of buying a 5D2 and, having looked at figures and weighed up risk I think it would be Digital Rev getting my business at the moment, but I'm not sure I'm ready to buy a 5 series right now. I'm interested to see what the 1D4 looks like, and how much it costs. Rumours (http://www.canonrumors.com/)are looking interesting.

EDIT : Cheaper here - http://www.onestop-digital.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_22&products_id=482 - and I've used these guys too for a few bits'n'bobs with no problem.
