I have a fairly new SX110 IS which has developed a fault. Despite putting in new batteries several times, I manage to take no more than 2 or 3 shots with each set of batts before the camera tells me I need new batteries. The fault is definately with the camera as I have tested all the batteries concerned in other appliances with no probs. Although the camera is still under warranty I wondered, before I go to the trouble of returning it, whether there is something obvious that I may be overlooking, maybe a wrong setting that could be causing this. Anyone shed any light on this?

My guess is that if you are using alkaline batteries you may be wasting your time. My girlfriend's Canon A70 from many years ago would take about 6 shots on alkalines before giving up. With NiMH rechargeables it was good for a cople of hundred shots or more.

Thanks for your reply Tim and apologies for taking so long to get back to you. I have tried your suggestion and used rechargable NiMHs and although there was a slight improvement - 8 shots - the same result occurred. This is surely not right so it looks like the camera will have to go back. Is it best to send it to the retailer (W/House Exp) or to Canon. Any advice much appreciated.:-C

It sounds like your camera is kaput. I suggest you contact WE first, since your "contract" for supply is with them. They may well tell you to send it to Canon but it would be best to talk to them first.
