finches

Hi everyone,first let me say I'm new to the board and my first question is this.I have a female finch that has 6 eggs.Sometimes she and her mate will set the eggs but most of the time they want.My question is this,is this normal or should the female set her eggs all of the time?I actually have 4 finches,2 females and 2 males.This is my first set of eggs and I'm very excited about my first set of newborns.Any help or advice would be most appreciated.

I'm thinking of getting a pet bird myself. maybe a nekid one...
