Hiya,
I'm new to Bird Watching and I'm visiting my Dad next week in Plymouth. Has anyone got any advice on places to visit when I'm down there?
Thanks in advance.

Prawle Point is grand for farmland birds and Cirl Buntings as well as being by the sea to see the sea birds passing by.
The estuary at Kingsbridge offers estuarine birds but not so great this time of the year.
West Charleton Marsh is also worth a visit. You can look out on to a reedy marsh as well as an estuary from the same hide.
Bit tired now so hope other Plymouth based birders can come up with more local recommendations. There is a spot on one of the rivers down there called Saltram House or summat.

Plymbridge Woods would be worth a look for Dipper and other such birds which you probably don't see in Kent.

I think if I was new to Bird Watching and was going to Plymouth late June/ early July then I would probably go to Dartmoor which would be a habitat you do not have in Kent. On a nice sunny day try going to Dousland and walking around Burrator Reservoir. If you don't have access to a car you can get there by bus. Roger

Just another idea. There is a ferry that goes across the river in Plymouth to the Cornish side. Might be worth a ride with the bins to fit in with anything you do in the city.
