Hello,

last April I managed to read the ring code on a singing male bluethroat ( Luscinia svecica subsp. cyane) at a breeding site near Schweinfurt/Germany.

The code was Madrid N808907.

I already reported the recoord via the bird observatory responsible for our area and directly via the euring-website, but haven't had a reply yet...

Perhaps somebody in this forum can get me in contact with a spanish ringer who can offer assistance.

Kind regards
i-Birder

You could try sending a PM to Black Wheatear, or possibly Tchagra, both of whom ring in Andalucia, and have contact with some Spanish ringers.

Also, many of these ringing schemes do take an age to reply to control records - I ringed a Swallow in England that was retrapped in Italy, and the information took 3 years to get to me!

Hi
I am involved with ringing in Spain with Bluethroat being a fairly regular visitor to our mist nets during Autumn and Winter. I will pass this number to our co-ordinator to see if he has the number logged or know where it could have been processed. Do you have an e-mail address?.

All the best Jules

Hi I-birder,

Here in the Balearics we've also ringed a few Bluethroats this winter. Will have a look at the records here just in case ;)

Anyhow, send an email to cma@seo.org which is the address of the coordination centre of Spanish ringing citing the date, place etc.

Regards

Steve

Try finding webpages of Spanish ringing groups, then go through the contact link on each of those

Hi I-B

My apologies for the slight delay but I received this e-mail from our local co-ordinator on the subject. I do believe though it's not one of our birds, good luck with your quest, I would be interested in what you find out.

Hi Jules,
bad news. A person in charge of ringing in Spain has told me that it should be done through the normal way, no other ways are possible (legal). It takes time to get back the information, so your colleague should be patient. As they told me your friend should send the information to the German ringing center. Such information goes to
Euring and then to Spain. People here check such ring number and information goes back to Germany...
sorry for such information, i would like to help you but I can't!
all the best Fran.

Hello,

I just got the data of the mentioned male Bluethroat, using the official way ;-)

It was ringed mid October 2008 as a CY1 bird at DeltaDelLlobregat, Viladecans, Barcelona.

I'm sorry for having been so impatient and thanks to everybody for the offered advice and support.

Kind regards
Gerald

I'd say that's a really rapid response! And also an interesting movement. It would be really good if you saw it again next year!
