Can anyone tell me where the tech specs come from when you
first open an Image before you start work on it in Photoshop?

Cheers

I believe he means the exif data that is recorded by the camera.

Mh, I might have a blond moment here, but the exif is recorded by the camera and is in the picture file, no?
Sorry, I probably totally don't get it :)
Maybe you can rephrase your question?

Possibly Ian means how do you read the exif data other than in the camera ?
If that is indeed what he means I don't know how either if you don't happen to use a Nikon programme like Picture Project or Capture. Either of the latter will let you know, however if you simply right click on a Nikon RAW image and open properties it doesn't show the details as a JPEG would.

if you open in ACR, you won`t see the exif, but once you open in PS, click on File, then scroll down to File Info, then Camera Data 1-2.

For quick review of raw files, I use http://www.exifpro.com/ an awesome program.

Mh, Picasa for example lets you read the exif when you right click the pic and then "properties".

Thanks for that link, Raymond, I didn't know that one.

you might also want to try Opanda which is an Exif reader,, anytime your viewing a photo if the exif is attached a right click on the mouse and you will see the Opanda exif reader, scroll to it and click and you will see the full photo exif,,
