My little thread about the last Blackbird song http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=145027 has reminded me.

Now DBWPS is asking us for 'first and last' dates for migrants: I tried to do this when I started birding in the late '50s, and OK, firsts are easy, but lasts ? I ended up with pages of Swallows in my notebooks, just waiting till they all went away so I could say, THAT was the last one. How else do you do it ?

to save space in notebooks you could/should use BirdTrack http://www.bto.org/birdtrack/index.htm

If you record all your sightings here they are instantly accessible and can get sent directly to Devon Birds or the relevant county recorder and on top of that they will be used for the atlas and conservation work http://www.bto.org/birdtrack/bird_recording/bctp/index.htm

Unless pc phobic the 'new' system is just smadd ;)
