I've got a few questions about the live view feature on my 40D and 50D cameras.

What is the max length of USB cable that I could use between camera and PC?

Can I operate the AF function remotely?

What is the shutter lag time when using live view?

I was looking into this and on ebay there are fair number of sellers offering these leads/buttons, and also wireless/time delay etc, and at very reasonable prices well below canon prices.

What is the max length of USB cable that I could use between camera and PC?

I've put three 5m USB cables, plus the normal camera-usb cable in series. The 5m extension cables were special cables with booster units.

I'm told that the link can be extended to over 100' by using USB to RJ45 adaptors and using a lonk cat5 cable.
