New Canon IS system announced see HERE (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0907/09072207canonhybridIS.asp). Seems like macro lenses could benefit most.

Does this paragraph mean they could incorporate it in there cameras at some stage

Canon is actively engaged in ongoing research and development of interchangeable SLR camera lenses incorporating Hybrid IS technology, and is aiming for the early commercialisation and inclusion of the technology in a wide range of products.

I have just found this, certainly looks very interesting. Now, there is going to be speculation all over the world as to what this is going to be produced in,
I think we will see this in compact cameras, and I would have thought that it could be incorporated in to bodies too, their have been rumours in the past about this, but obviously sheer speculation. I would speculate that this is going to be released in a 180mm f3.5 macro, something which needs something special to improve it.

Suspect they're talking about compact cameras & camcorders but the IS will always be in the lens rather than the body as far as Canon SLR's go.

Still, can't wait to see what lens this will be incorporated into first. Accroding to the press release it'll be before the end of '09. :t:

New IS system. Does that mean that their binocular division will have a new technology to play with in their IS line? I want to see better and better IS bins!
