Taking Turns

At the Broadland Raptor Roost today We saw three species of raptor arrive. The first as always was the Marsh harriers who seem to be the most common species at this roost, followed by Hen harriers Followed by the Merlin, just as it was getting dark.
Has anyone seen this pecking order before?

What about other sites, do any members have similar experiences from other raptor roost sites?

Is this a size of bird, or quantity of birds that determines who alights first/gets the best position?
