Hi - has anyone had experience with the Tamron 70-300mm telephoto/macro? It's a bit less expensive than the Sigma and much less expensive than the Canon. I'm sure the Canon is the best, but any info regarding the Tamron would be appreciated. Regards, Pete

I have this lens. I have not used it very much, but, I have to say it is quite good for the money. Have photographed all sorts from butterflies to my sisters wedding to steam trains. Don't think you can get closer than about a foot with it on macro.
And my sister liked her photo's.....Not as good as a 28-300.
