My mate has this set up and is well pleased with it (I've borrowed the 150 occasionally and can say that it's a fine macro that gives sharp, clean images). 'Better' is a subjective term here as the Sigma is bigger and heavier but also 50% longer in focal-length with all the benefits and disadvantages that incurs - you pays your money, you takes your choice. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either lens.

I was lucky enough to be able to try both in the field. As with many lenses these days they were both excellent and gave good results with good fieldcraft. I tried them on a 30D (and 1D I think) and they were both good. The canon focussed a bit faster but I use manual for macro so no difference...

... anyway I bought the 150 due to the extra reach and have never regretted it. I found it near impossible to get full frame lizards with the 100mm.

Be aware that the figures quoted for macro ratios at various distances are the subject to sensor distance - there's not a lot of difference from the end of the lenshood to subject, whichever one you get. With a small subject you'll still need to get pretty close. Good luck with your lens and let's hope we get some decent weather for a change so we can all get out there shooting macro subjects!
