I did a search for a discussion on this but couldn't find any.
Now, remember that you are replying to a blonde... How easy is this to use and is it fully compatible with the D90 and lastly do you have to be at a certain angle for it to work. Thanks ;)

I used one (ML-1) with a Nikon FE for years, great piece of kit. I always set the reciever to be square on the the transmitter but it would work from 20 degrees either side.

The ML-L3 is an infra-red device which pretty much has to be pointed directly at the sensor on the camera. On the D70 the sensor is forward facing so the remote won't work from behind the camera unless you rig up some sort of reflective device.
Where's the sensor on the D90?

I sensor is in the front of the camera. Upper right hand side so hopefully with a remote in the left hand I can deal with it. Wasn't expensive but I figured I'd give it a try.

Sounds like the same location as on the D70. It works fine if you're just standing by the camera or want to include yourself in the shot, but not very useful for genuine remote working if you're positioned some way behind the camera, for instance. As you say, it's not expensive.
