Has anyone got the technology to decipher the number on this birds band please,I have not got a decent programme to sharpen etc. As you can see the band is just a little twisted the wrong way, I was thinking 039 or 639
Thanks for any help.

Just not enough pixels, I fear. Oh for the days of 'wet' photography :)

Very frustrating.

Can't help - actually thought it was 098 or 860. Can I ask is this a crop from the unedited camera image? If not could you post one?

Thanks - hate to admit defeat!

Thanks for trying John and Micheal, yes the image is unedited , just cropped. I have done a bit of research and it seems the first digit may be a letter, unless of course the bird is migrating through.

I have emailed the Crete Nat Hist Museum, I will let you know if there is anything when I hear.

Great news from the Natural History museum of Crete:t:. Thanks to the
co-ordinator for the information. The number is G39, the bird was a juvenile first year bird when found exhausted in Kourtaliotiko gorge, Crete on 15/8/2003 it was rehabilitated and released on 30/3/2004. This is therefore 6 years old.
Cheers
