Has anyone else here had experience of a company called Camerabox?

First thing Tuesday morning (before 9am) I placed an order with them, supposedly for next day delivery. Yesterday lunchtime I got an email from them to say my order was on its way, and I stayed in, waiting for it on the basis that there was nothing in the email to suggest there was a problem.

I waited until about 5.50 (they say they deliver until 6pm) and gave them a call to see what was happening. Whever picked up the phone at the other end couldn't have been less helpful - literally. They didn't answer and all I could hear were voices in the office.

Mindful of the fact that their lines close at 6, I called them back and was told by someone in an off-hand manner that there had been a problem and my package would arrive the next day (ie today). No apology or explanation, but I suppose he had his mind on his evening meal by 5.55.

I've waited in again today and gave it until after lunch to give them another call. I got an answerphone sayiing that their representatives were all busy, would I like to leave a message with my telephone number and they would call back. I hung up and tried an hour later, giving them time to be less busy. Guess what? Their reps were still busy, so I left a message, saying that the matter was urgent.

Another hour passed without them calling and I called again "Our reps are busy, please leave a message". I did. It's urgent.

It's now after 4, they still haven't bothered to call me back, and I'm still waiting for a next day delivery that should have been here yesterday (other orders from Warehouse Express and Digi-quick were both here by 10.30 yesterday).

Has anyone else had trouble with them or am I just being unlucky?

Haven't used them since I bought my very 1st D-SLR, goods arrived very poorly packaged the lens box was crushed, both body and lens boxes were placed in a plastic envelope, no protection what so ever. I called to complain but they were less than concerned
Too late for you but once bitten twice shy.
Ironically I have never had to complain about an overseas shipment from online retailers. It seems that in the UK some companies customer service would not allow them to survive anywhere outside the UK, we do get treated like second class citizens (Not including Mifsuds and Warehouse Express)

Well the 6pm deadline for delivery came and went.

I've sent Camerabox an email cancelling my order and asking for a refund of the payment which they weren't slow to extract from my bank - it came out yesterday.

Reseller Ratings is a US site, but the number of UK companies is slowly increasing. Here's what others think of Camerabollox. (http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Camerabox_co_uk)

Guess what? My package finally arrived in the post this morning - 3 days after ordering, and the postmark reads 2nd Sept - the day after ordering. It also came by post rather than courier.

If they'd said that in the first place I could have put up with it, but they didn't, especially since I'm going away tomorrow, and if it had been another day late there would have been no-one here to sign for it.

Not impressed.

Last month I ordered a lens from them for a friend - the price was very good. Their site makes a big point of showing 'live' stock so you can order knowing they have the item and it showed stock. I also waited and waited - sent an email to be told they had no stock - checked the site and it did indeed show no stock. If I'd known at the time I'd have cancelled and ordered elsewhere but they did'nt tell me. The only response I got was that the site showed no stock[but it did when I ordered and why did'nt you email me to let me know??grrrr] ...over and over...and they took the money at the time of order. Took about a week to get the lens. Will stick to W/E or Park in future.

Very poor customer aftercare too! I bought a 300mm L lens last year and it arrived damaged (with a note from another customer returning it to camerabox) took me 5 days to contact them and then another 7 days for refund in my bank, useless company but there's lots like them too so be careful when ordering.
