I found out about this tragic loss yesterday. Simon worked with Steve Redpath on the Langholm project and has contributed enormously to knowledge of raptor ecology.

Simon is the second Scottish raptor expert to die in a tragic accident in the space of two weeks, after the recent death of Mike Madders.

This is so tragic, yet another loss of someone who contributed enormously to conservation and pioneered remarkable projects by the sound of it.

Looking at the image of his young family is heartbreaking as was Mike Madders son who's picture played on my mind for days.

My sincere condolences to both family and friends of Simon Thirgood and Mike Madders.

Simon is also remembered for his conservation work in Ethiopia, in particular for the critically endangered Ethiopian Wolf.

I never knew this person personally at all. Having said that, anyone who has the heart and the soul to care about wildlilfe and conversation is a big plus to me anyday :t:

Bless Simon Thirgood, and his family - and my heart goes out to them. The same apples to Mike Madders in the same way.

Such a sad loss to the fight for conservation as a whole.

Kathy
