For the first time in three weeks (I think) we had a full complement of Saturday morning walkers, as I was accompanied by partnyorsha and daughter on my outback walk.
Fortunately, the weather has been kind, and after the overnight rain, and in spite of sometimes leaden skies, we survived without getting wet – in fact the weather generally improved and we even had a little warm sun at the end.
No major ids this time, but, IMO, a few noteworthy inclusions in the list, viz. (in no particular order)
Firstly, my daughter was responsible for tracking down our only visual contact with the Green Woodpeckers, as she had one in view for a good five minutes before either of the “grown-ups” managed to figure out where it was!
Also, she spotted the Blackcap – different location from the previous record – long before we did!
In addition, we got an outback year tick, as the first Swallow of the year was flitting about. There may just of been two, but evidence for such was sketchy at best.
We also got good sightings of two Bramblings, but there may have been as many as fifteen… but as they were in front of the sun…!!!
And finally, after a recent apparent drop in numbers, the Tufted Duck community on the pond would now seem to stand at eight… four male, four female.
Ducks aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I like ‘em, and think Tufties are great!
The usual numbers follow, the only frustrating omission, another two unided partridges!!!
