Just a quick report of today’s trip around the outback.
Weather was miserable – fleece and waterproof worn, with overtrousers, and I didn’t feel overdressed! And whilst the wind was light, it was cold and lazy!
Perhaps consequently the bird numbers were down – particularly the water birds, who seem to dislike the wet more than the woodland birds. Perhaps they move elsewhere during the day, but yesterday’s 4 pairs of Tufted Ducks became a big fat zero today.
Highlights of the afternoon…
The “brambling” flock now up to 25 birds. In truth I could only positively id a small group of 4, including one fabulous male, and I do not feel able to extrapolate this to the full flock yet!
Perhaps 6 Chiffchaffs in total now, although I have only recorded 3 (one in each distinct location) as they were moving about a bit!
In addition to those shown below were two large Gulls, a couple of Mistle/Song Thrush and an unided hirundine.
