I don't need the God of the cameras, I just want something that can take a clear photo (including when things are flying), and zoom really far. I'm not going to be taking beuty shots most of the time (but every once and a while, so don't throw photo quality out the window.), but I will mostly be using it for identification purposes.
Any suggestions?

There are many options, so I suggest to tell us something about your budget...

Something like this? No, that's not me by the way!

Your best bet is probably a "superzoom" camera like the Canon SX20 or the MANY other cameras like it ( http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Canon/canon_sx20is.asp )

The words "Cheap" and "Quality" are not an option in bird photography I am afraid.
The first thing you need to establish is whether you need/want a DSLR or 'Superzoom' type Camera like RAH has suggested. Budget is the determining factor?

Cheap is saying in the range of 200-300, maybe slightly over.
Superzoom would probably by the best since I would be birdwatching with it and that would be smaller.

I think they're trying to take pap shots of celebrities in distant galaxies with that one. ;)
