These new Minox open-bridge roofs were mentioned on another thread.
They are now [out of stock] at Eagle Optics, so somebody with deep pockets please order one and let us know how they perform.
The specs look very good and so does the price (if they are up to Minox's usual standards).
They will probably sell for even less at big NY camera dealers.

They do look good what with their sturdy open bridge design and they have a nice wide FOV of 411' and the price is reasonable.
But look at the price on the Minox APO HG 8 x 43!:eek!: Will somebody with REAL DEEP pockets order one of these and report on it? And it is made in Germany too! At that price, I would hope so! The FOV is 394'. The 10 x 43 version has a really wide 355' FOV.

I want to cawl to oder dis first meeting of the Euro-Asian Optics Cartel. I wanna thank you all for asking me to be your chief negotiator for a piece of the action.
As you know we're here to discuss pricing. Now the only way ya can skin the hides of Americans, at least those who aren't homeless, jobless, or who had their 401ks wiped out, is to fix our pricing so that you all come in for around $2K on your top of the line models.
Quality isn't an issue, I got the best ad men in New Yawk. They can sell a hat to a hat salesman.
Now, you can't all be charging $2k on the nose, because it would look like price fixing, so some of you will have to go a bit under and some a bit over.
Michio Kariyar (president of Nikon): 181,193 JPY!
Robert Siemers (president of Zeiss Optical): Nicht kosten unsere Binokel DM 2.629!
Michio Kariya : Euopeans#$@*&^%!
Robert Siemers: Japaner essen Fischköpfe!
The Donald: Anybody get that? Didn't we hire Hideki Matsui's interpreter in the off-season? Where is he?
Apprentice #1: I think they both want to charge $2,000, Mr. Trump.
The Donald: Sometimes your best investments are the ones you don't make. I'm going home. Call Ivana, I mean Kara, no, I mean Melania, ur... what's her name, call Stormy... or whatever supermodel I'm dating this year and tell her to reserve a table for us at Elaine's tonight at 8. The Donald (turns to Kariya): You're FYEED!
The Donald (turns to Seimers): You're FYEED!

Robert Siemers: Dumme Amerikaner!
The Donald (flippin' the finger): Same to you, buddy!

When will the moderators put a stop to this utter nonsense? This poster is simply out of control on numerous threads.

Lighten up, John! I didn't hijack this thread, I started it and was adding a humorous parody to make my point.
On one other thread, I was asked to move my off-topic (not really that off far topic) post to a new thread, which I did.
If you don't enjoy reading my posts, threads, or appreciate my sense of humor (some people do, and have publicly said so), just don't read them instead of complaining about them.
I don't always like yours either, but I didn't complain about them, at least up until now.
Nobody's twisting your arm to read my posts or my threads.
Go elsewhere and post to another thread, and be happy!

These look interesting!!
Curious as to where they sit among the rest of the current minox line up, being so closely priced to the budget BL BR and HG models?
Also interested to know if these are going to be available in the UK, as I was previously dissapointed the old BR ALT range had been revamped (7x42 model discontinued) and now only available in the US?

Matt,
I wrote Eagle Optics to find out when they would be available in the US and in what country they were made.
Seems Minox prefers to ship them across the Pacific to test their desirability in the American market before selling them in the UK, though hopefully not in a "slow boat from China," I'm keeping my fingers crossed they are made in Japan like the 8x44/10x44 porros.
Minox also had some nasty stuff in their rubber armoring, hope they got that out.
