A relative has died leaving about 30 rolls of old film which the family would like to see.
The film measures 8mm across and the spool 75mm diameter.the film has perforations close to one edge,is this 8mm,Super 8 etc and would it have sound.I can probably buy a cheap projector but does it have to match the film.Any ideas?
Thanks
Frank

Frank, why not take a reel to your local photo shop for ID. I believe 8mm and Super run on the same projector. They might have one to rent or sell if they have a "used camera equipment" section.
Hope you get it sorted out and get to view old memories!

Frank, your local photo dealer may offer a film to video transfer service, which would save trying to find a suitable projector.

Had the same problem Frank when my father died.He did have a projector but it didn't work, but I managed to find a dealer in London, off the internet, and got one for less than £20.

There are hand cranked film editors that will let you view super 8. I have one. Projector quit years ago. Never has sound.
