London area (nightingales)

I have time on Thursday to spend half a day somewhere within public transport reach of the centre of London. Anyone know anywhere with interesting stuff to see (as it will be early June butterflies or dragonflies could be an alternative to birds). A Nightingale site would be particularly helpful.
