Wetlands centre Barnes

Further to Steve's note: this is an excellent site whatever the weather. The hard core pathways means you don't have to get muddy, there is a variety of hides and habitats, and the main tower hide (with 360 degree viewing) has a lift. There is also a brilliant restaurant and loos all over the place. The observatory has a Swarovski scope for public use. The centre is easily accessible by public transport: take the tube to Hammersmith and then the'duck bus' straight into the centre.

I agree with Peter, brilliant place. I used to go to Barn Elms Res 10 years ago when it was just four square concrete basins. Even then it was probably the best site near central London.
Now it's been transformed. You cannot even tell where the old 'squares' used to be. I have only been once since WWT took it over, mid-March. Saw my first Surrey avocet and ruddy duck :bounce:
