Today at westonbirt around 10.40am I managed to count 15 Redwings.

I have notice the redwings appear each winter.

We only ever get a few feildfare.

That's nice - I've not seen Redwing locally (Norfolk) since the influx last Autumn, but we had about twenty Fieldfare yesterday on the fields, so the Redwing must be around somewhere. My current short-time ambition is to see (and hopefully photograph) Redwing and Waxwing disputing berries on the same tree.

Redwings & fieldfares migrate inland when they arrive in October. As the berry crop is eaten they move towards the coast. So by spring they have enough berries to eat just before they leave for Scandinavia. Redwings are more arboreal than Fieldfares. The latin translation for Fieldfare is (Roughly) Field Feeder (Farer) So to look for Rediwngs you need some good berry bearing trees or tall trees Whereas Filedfares you need to lookkaround fields.

Good Luck.

Plenty of both here in the West Midlands/South Staffs!
