Well first time out with my new head and tripod setup and I have hit two snags.

I have the 128RC head, which is great, only I have lost one of the hand wheels which adjusts the tension on the pan and tilt. It has come loose whilst carrying as it does tend toch my side which has led to the slow undoing of the hand wheel. Could anybody suggest a remedy for this and where best i could find replacements?

The other problem being where to attach a carrying strap. In the instructions it does not say where but I could only imagine it is on the little lug with a sort of round key split attached. The split which I had attached it too has already stretched and broke. Any ideas or help would be great. Thanks.

Sleeper,

I have not tried this yet, but plan to do so this coming week, as I too think the split ring will not stand up to extended use.

I plan to use one of those plastic tie down strips that electricians use to “bundle” several strands of wire. Not sure what the technical term for these guys are, but you insert one end into the “head” and after reaching the knurled portion, it can not be removed. If you pull the strip to where there is about a half inch circle and then attach the tripod strap clip inside this loop I think this will solve the problem. You can carry spares in case one blows out.

Can't help you with your first question.

For a similar problem with a head by Novoflex, the people from Novoflex suggested using some loc-tite type screw fastener. You can still move the screws but they move with a resistance, thus unlikely to undo themselves unassistedly. As for replacements, try the store where you got your setup.

There should be a special threaded hole for the attachment of the strap. Assuming you also have a Manfrotto tripod. But, of course, that would only be good for the specific strap Manfrotto provides.

Thanks for the help Robert the loc-tite seems a good idea. Thanks for the zip tie idea Dick. i have managed to find a very heavy duty key ring made from sprung steel so I will see how that holds up. Thanks again
