My new "toy" has arrived!

Hi,

I have finally taken delivery of my Nikon d70 and 80-400 VR zoom lens. I spent yesterday and today playing around , with some building and scenic shots, and a few birds. Here are 3 of the bird shots I have taken, a Crow in the rain, a flying Herring Gull and a Blue-headed Vireo. The latter 2 were heavily cropped in PSE-2.

I am looking forward to getting the chance to do some real birding with the combo., and getting some shots as good as some of the seasoned dSLR'ers here.

It looks like you are really getting the measure of your new gear. It looks like a fantastic peice of kit. You are already taking good photo's with it if these 3 are anything to go by. Enjoy your new camera and lense. Cheers John.

Off to a great start there, Richard! You'll quickly fall in love with the D70.

Brian - I don't know how Richard took his pics, but you can take pics like that handheld with that kinda gear. Obviously a plus point over digiscoping.

I just pre-set the camera, and slung it around my neck - then just pointed it at the birds and pressed the button. Very satisfying!
