Hi guys

I'm going on my second Norfolk holiday of the month on Saturday ( this time North Norfolk as opposed to the Broads ). Will be with my family and would like to take my dad out birdwatching. He has been birdwatching for a long time but since he doesn't have transport his days out are limited.

I was thinking of having one day where my mam and girlfriend go shopping and we go on a mad Norfolk birding day.

I would definitely like to see the Orioles at Lakenheath but also other firsts like Stone Curlews.

Any advice would be awesome

Thanks

Mal Skelton

Where are you dropping the ladies shopping?

Not sure if the Orioles are still about! If they are will someone please say might finally go myself!!

Anyway if you want to do Weeting and Lakenheath you might want to consider RSPB Ouse Wash and WWT Welney. They are close by so you would spend more time birding and less driving. Of course you could head up for the waders at Snettisham or go to Titchwell or Cley. Ah so many places to go.

Suggest you take the ladies shopping at Titchwell visitor centre! Sorry for being flippant. I will be in north Norfolk over weekend too. Titchwell is my favourite of all RSPB sites. You should visit Cley too and/or pine woods & dunes nr Wells-next-the-sea, where we will be staying. Look in back numbers of Bird Watching for sites or there are a couple of good site guides in the shops locally.

Pleased you said that.

Oh meant to mention Holme. There's an NWT and NOA reserve.

you could drop em in Holt. Me and the boys have been off to the North Coast from Norwich and been known not to make it past a couple of pubs in Holt on a summers day!

Seriously though, there's some nice shopping there, it's a 'quaint' little town, nice places to grab a bite and u can be at Cley in seconds, then Salthouse, Blakeney, Titchwell, Stiffkey, etc...
