Hi,

I have been hearing some interesting things about Staines Reservoir recently but sadly don't know the first thing about the place....

I may have an opportunity to visit next week, so is there anyone out there familiar with it, who could give me some pointers about locations, access, car parking, likely birds etc.

I think I heard that the 'North Basin' was particularly good at the moment as the water levels were low...

Thanks..... Ruby

Take J13 on the M25 and following A30/A308 East toward Staines. You'll reach a set of Traffic Lights where you go left (stay in left lane as you approach them). Follow this road for 1/2 mile (very rough distance - its been a while since I went) and then park up on verge by small pumping station (make sure you are off the road - if you cannot park here anymore I'm sure someone on the Forum will put me straight!!!!)
Opposite here is the footpath up to the causeway which runs between the 2 basins of the reservoir.

Hope that helps
