Living so close to Breydon Water i often get a good idea of whats going on by what i can hear, and this last week - 10 days it's been an increase in the noise made by the terns, Common Terns breed on man made platforms and so this 'extra' noise meant things must be starting to move south.
So with this in mind i took a wander down for this mornings incoming tide. Birding in the sun, always nice, plus a fair bit of activity including some of the returning terns & nice summer plumage waders (aren't they cracking !) to keep the interest level up.
Noted these :
House Sparrow
Linnets
Starling, couple of good size flocks
Magpie
Blackbirds
Meadow Pipit
Woodpigeon
Stock Dove
Collared dove
Swifts
Swallows
Black-headed Gull
Lesser Black-backed Gull
Herring Gull
Common Gull
Cormorant
Sandwich Tern
Common Tern
Little Tern
Arctic Tern
Oystercatcher
Avocet c270
Black-tailed Godwit c350
Golden Plover c90 maybe more, partly hidden from view
Curlew c.loads, gave up trying to count them.
Whimbrel c10
Redshank
Greenshank c7
Dunlin c25
Ringed Plover c8
Lapwing c100
Curlew Sandpiper x 1 .... my first one this year :king:
Shelduck
Little Grebe, 2 adult and 2 young
Little Egret x 8, that's the most i've seen up there all at once :bounce:
Grey Heron x 1
