I have seen some "bees" around in my garden.. but upon closer inspection, I realised it's a bird.. a humming bird with metallic feathers and a beak...
it's only 1 inch in size...
is this the smallest ever humming bird?

Perhaps what you saw was a sphinx moth? Often called a hummer moth. Here's a link to that moth.

There's no hummingbirds outside of the Americas - it sounds to me like a Hummingbird Hawkmoth. Check out this thread for some details:

smallest hummer i think is the Bee Humingbird - endemic to Cuba
it's tiny and very cute......
