Hello all
I will be visiting the Peterborough area (Bird Fair weekend) and on the Saturday have managed to wangle a trip to Titchwell (the other half promised me the fish & chips are excellent at Hunstanton which is very near - she's from Cambs so I don't argue).
Anyway as a Durham lad, I'm a little lost in those parts so can you give me some tips on how to tackle Titchwell as I realise it may be prolific, but only if one is sensible about it. What about surround areas too?
Regards
Steve

Titchwell's only a few miles farther along the coast road from Hunstanton and the RSPB reserve is well sign-posted, being just off the road. The carpark is free to RSPB members.
It's usually viewed from the west side where there is a public footpath leading down to the beach, which means you're often looking in an easterly direction, making the afternoon better as you'll have the sun behind you - this is more important for a winter visit when the sun is low in the sky for much of the day.
The noticeboard at the visitor centre should give details of what birds are where, exactly on the day.

Hi Steve, have been to Titchwell three times this year and each time found it superb, there is always something to see. The reserve is easy to find and well sign posted, its very easy to spend the whole day there but there are many other quality areas. Holme is only five minutes away were you have an opportunaty to see bird ringing at the NOA (you need a permit £3) Blakeney Point is a good place to visit with boat trips to the Point to see Sandwich Terns. Holkham is excellent a good variety of birdlife to see and Cley is about 45 minutes away. The most important thing you need on the North Norfolk Coast is time because it seems to run out so quickly!! Hope you have a good trip ;)

Well worth a full day visit - you wont be disappointed. Easy to follow roads from Hunstanton around coast towards Cromer. I stayed in Wells-Next-the-Sea which ideal base to visot all location on Norfolk Coast.

Thanks all - having wangled Titchwell on the Saturday and Rutland ater on the Sunday, I'm afraid it will be Titchwell only as not fait on the other half to drag her around Norfolk when she's down to visit her folks.
Another question, will I need to lug a scope around or will bins suffice? - occasionally it's good to tavel light and not worry about digiscoping and just enjoy the surroundings and birds - I assume most sightings will be close up?
Cuddy having not been before I've yet to meet Sammy, i know of him of course and I will mention him to you, and also tell him of your 15 year Wryneck....he's probably heard already though ;)
