For Zeiss 65mm straight spotter. I need it to be about 69" high as I am 72" tall.
Is this possible. I would like the bogen 3178WNK or the Swaro version but I just can't spend the money right now. I have a cheap Slik and it's garbage.
Thanks for all the help.

Yes, there are many good options available. First, I would look for a second hand tripod. Just as you have suggested, many people look to upgrade when they have more money. My old setup was a smaller Manfrotto 290 (Bogen 9801?) that was too short for me, so I compensated with a tall head, the pistol grip Manfrotto #222. Brand new together they cost about $150 US although that was a few years ago. Get on the internet, those camera shops that sell Slik and Velbon arn't worth the time.

Hi there Bill! I have to say hello to you and thanks for your input on my queries regarding tripod heads. Seems we have similar interests. Hopefully DHB is in your area.

Oops, sorry DHB. It just occurred to me that I shouldn't start chatting with someone on your thread. sorry, Kevin.

NP Kevin. I've looked into heads (and legs) abit because I think they are the weak link in the scope image. I've seen too many birders have their $1000 scope image ruined by lousy support systems.
