Well, what with all the shenanigans, it was a pleasure just to get out and walk my patch again, today. Circumstances, that some of you will be aware of, conspired to make this an afternoon event, but after last week's showing, I was hopeful of a busy time.

Unforunately it was not to be.

I had one of those days today where I just couldn't see a thing through my binocs (is that just me, or does it happen to anyone else?) so I know a lot passed me by, and there were again a number of woodland birds flitting around the trees, but almost all evaded identification!

So, the rather measly count is as follows, although I may well have understated the House Martins by as much as 100% - sorry... they don't keep still!

Plain text = Outback day tick
Bold text = Outback year tick
Bold text italic = Outback life tick
(Number in brackets is highest number of individuals identified at one time)

Mallard : 19 (12)
Woodpigeon : 5 (2)
Moorhen : 2 (2)
Coot : 5 (4)
Kestrel : 4 (2)
Magpie : 1 (1)
Carrion Crow : 3 (2)
Nuthatch : 1 (1)
Blue Tit : 3 (1)
Swallow : 1 (1)
House Martin : 50 (50)
Yellowhammer : 1 (1)

Happens to me too, I also hate those days when you have a cloth fibre in your eye creating a floating black dot whenever you look through your bins. The dot also floats down to the bottom sideways like a bird!
