Hi folks,
I've just moved here, done a couple of bird walks and...it's great!! I have to admit it's the first time I move to a house I haven't seen before, my wife chose it, and I was quite worried. She had told me the area was great but been fairly close to Madrid I didn't know what to expect. In Mallorca we lived very close to the city and I had not many birds to write about. Before Mallorca we were living in Costarica's Monteverde, with a huge local patch list. My local patch now is right in the middle of a Regional Park, with a small lake, riverside forest, dehesa-like country and open areas with small bushes and cereal fields. There are also some urban developments not far. "Good looking!" I thought when I saw it the first time. I've done a couple of bird walks in August (hot and dusty) and managed to find a good lot of nice birds to have close by. Plus the lake in winter is said to have wintering ducks and stuff.I loooove my wife...
Here is what I've found so far:

Ola! I have been to Spain quite often, and am wondering what an iberian chiffchaff song sounds like. I heard a bird singing in trees behind the Cathedral in Girona, Catalunya, a few years ago that sounded like a burst of 'chiff chaff' song followed by a section of descending willow warbler. I have since read that iberian chiffchaffs are very rare in Catalunya. Thus, does anyone have any clues as to what bird I was hearing?
Thanks.
