After reading DaveB's report of a Bittern here yesterday I just had to go look for it today. We weren't disappointed either, finding it in the reeds below the north hide. We spent an hour and a half there, with it in view for at least sixty minutes as it went hunting in the area immediately in front of the hide. we got some superb views, considering how difficult they are reputedly to see clearly. A first for us.
I managed a few photos, but they don't do the bird justice.

Lucky you, and nice shots too. It is nice to see a photo showing it in other poses from standing upright.

Blimey, cracking photos!!! Yet another reason to be jealous of you guys (and girls) in Britain - in my mid-French part of the world we get a couple of pairs in the summer and none at all in winter. Every time I pass a reedbed I scan with the bins, you never know!!

Pleased you got to see the Bittern. The bird is nice to view anywhere, but to get it so close to home, brilliant.
