Advice, please on best head with a 443. I use a Swaro 80HD Angled. I do not digiscope. Weight is very important for me as I have a dodgy back!
Many thanks.

Get a high quality ballhead! weight is about 500g, cost is about 250 pounds. Check out the equipment reviews section.

Sorry, not very descriptive of me!
I've had one for a while and basically find it fiddly to use. One of the adjuster screws fell off and was lost.
I think basically, it is not up to the job for birding; it is a video head and would be fine for a camera, but even with a lightweight scope, it requires constant adjustment of the tension. I would certainly not consider it with your 80 HD.
I've heard good reports of the 701 RC2.

I presume you did not get a head with the legs. The manfrotto 128 is popular for general bird watching about £59 a better head is the 700RC-2 about £65 the next one up is the 701RC-2 which is the one I would reccomend very smooth and stable especially if you decide to try Digiscoping at a later date
best of luck

Looks like we got some contradiction here. Personally, I always felt the 128 to be much better (albeit heavier) than the 700. The 700 replaced a similarly unsatisfactory (for scope users) 200 model some time ago. So I wonder how the 701 fares. It's not on the Manfrotto site yet.
