Just back from an amazing bird session.

Was a bit dissapointed not to see the kingfisher by the stream so I went to the watermeadow to see if he was there. No joy but I saw a couple of gorgeous goldfinches teasing my dog from the branches of an ancient oak.

Then as I got closer to the woods the local green woodpecker came flying out and set to pecking on the oak I had just left, he can be found here often, it's quite funny the way he hides behind the trunk as soon as you get the camera out, I've got some really amazing photos of oak trees in my collection!!

in the woods I saw a bullfinch, lots of blue-tits and great-tits, the ever present chaffinch posse and a cute little wren.

Back along the stream I bumped in mr kingfisher at last, I know why he was further along than usual, he was flirting with mrs kingfisher. I don't see her as often, only every few weeks, whereas he is a daily treat for my eyes. They skipped off pretty quick and tried to confuse me by going into the woods, quite amazing to see the electric blues in amongst the trees.

Got shouted at by a great-tit in my apple tree when I got home, and when I went to stock up the bird table, within seconds the gang of starlings came down for their breakfast, to see them is to truly understand the phrase 'pecking order' the boss is a scraggy male and nobody else would dare to eat before him.

anyway I suppose I better do some work now.

Take care

Nice little report Boogs; keep 'em coming.

I think I won't be the only one envious of your regular rendezvous with Mr. Kingfisher!

Lovely snippet, like hearing about the Blue birds playing Mr & Mrs. Also loved seeing that your dog got teased by some birds!
