Hi All,
Weird start to walk this morning, the weather seemed all dark as I went through the woods and I saw nothing but a collared dove and a brace of wood pidgeons.
Things got better, though as I walked along the stream. Saw a trio of greenfinches fly over into the trees. Then a very miserable, fluffed-up dunnock who looked so sorry for himself.
Met the Kingfisher by the side of the brook and after letting me get to within about 15ft he dipped and shot off, flying under a bridge to settle the other side of a road on an Ash tree.
Immediately after he set down a green woodpecker flew up from the ground and into an oak, before noticing me and my dog and flying over to the woods next to the water meadow.
Bumped into the kingfisher again on way back along the stream and left him to it so he could catch his breakfast in peace.
Walking back through the woods was pretty cool, saw all the usual suspects, including a groovy little nuthatch who perfomed up, down and all around an old rotten oak for the delight of me and me dog. My dog is facinated by woodpeckers and nuthatces and will sit and quietly watch them for ages given the chance.
Nothing in the garden at the moment but I had a Jay on the birdtable this morning, he went before I could get my camera though :(
Take care
