At present I have an ED78 with 38x eyepiece, but have been recommended to get a lower mag eyepiece in order to try and improve my digiscoping pics. I know that Nikon have recently (?) brought out these DS digiscoping eyepieces, but have been told that they will only work with the Nikon camera adaptor. Has anyone else got one? Are they better for digiscoping? My budget is not exactly wonderful and I have been quoted £249 for one of these eyepieces, but it would have to be ordered specially, so I can't even try/look at it before ordering. Any info would be welcome.

I own 2 Nikon eyepieces that I use on a ED 82: the 25-75x zoom and the new 30x DS eyepiece. I cannot compare with a old non-DS eyepiece, sorry.
Before I got the 30x DS, I found the 25-75x of good optical quality. Since the day I received the 30x, I have never mounted the zoom back again LOL

Regarding vignetting during digiscoping, you can check at this page what can be gained through upgrading from a old MC to a new DC:

hope this helps,
