I am mostly a raptor field ID guy, I spot and ID every thing I see, yet concentrate on birds of prey, thus I have had 6 pair of 10 x 50s in the last 15 years.

3 pair that were around 50 to 100$ each didn’t last long optics sub-par
1 pair 200+$ lasted a couple years. optics ok (celestron)
1 pair 300$ of savanna/orion's has lasted very well under extreme conditions. optics, very good for 300$

1 pair of SLC's very expensive but to me worth it. Don’t put them through what I do the orions, weather, water, dirt, dust......

Now I need some good close up back yard/trail binocs, viewing as close as say 15 feet or even closer.

I was looking to spend 300 to 500 $$

any suggestions please.

Thank-you

Well, the old Nikon Sporter goes for 150-300. Swift has similar 8x36 or so but waterproof for $300. If you have an REI store nearby they have one pair for 300, brand started with B, very nice.

Sports stores carry some of these. There are several 7x binoculars out there. You just need to try them. Just about all but the cheapest..in plastic cases on racks..are pretty good at that range.
