I'm finally reconnected up. Wow this bt thingy is so slow!
Getting to the point, I now have a garden. Small dut definayely a garden.
The bird count is starting to go up after a slow start. Not a lot of people feed the birds around here.
My little list:
2 pairs of house sparrows
1 pair greenfinch
1 male chaffinch
1 robin
3 male and 1 female blackbird
1 song thrush
15 starling
3 dunnock
I have wood pigeons and b. headed gulls in the air but haven't seen them land in the garden.
There is a sparrowhawk that goes for starlings when they sit in the big tree just beyond my garden but I've not seen him in the garden yet.
How do you start to catch up on over 4000 posts, suspect you all write them faster than bt can send them anyway

Hi MikePeason, I am fairly new here and I am having trouble geting to all the posts too. The posts from everyone are sooooo interesting that I keep coming in here to the computer 50 times a day, trying to read everything. I finally decided to quit posting for now and just read and enjoy!!!! My computer is freezing up from jumping back and forth from new posting notices on my e-mail.
I enjoyed reading your list of Bird sightings. My sightings this morning,it is now 6:30AM,Friday, are six Blue Jays at my kitchen window feeder, two White Breasted Nuthatches and about 20 Juncos and a few Sparrows. I just peeked again and there are now 5 Black-capped Chickadees too!

Hiya Mike
Good to see that you have settled in your new home. Just think of the new birding possibilities that will open up to you once spring starts to arrive. You lucky so & so.
We will have to have a chat on Sunday at Slimbash. I have your CD's ready in my camera case.
Give us an email when your ready. I need to put it onto my addresses anyway because my computer has been down almost as long as you have been away and has been reformatted yet again. Just in case you have lost my email address I will send you a PM with it on plus my phone numbers as well.

To qoute the venerable Homer, "Doh". I coudn't get back on at all yesterday evening.
Morning all, nice to 'see' you all again.
I suspect that your back garden is a tad larger than mine (14' x 30') LuBird. I just had to go and look up Juncos, very pretty, what type have you got?
Hi T0ny, well now I'm mostly out of the boxes I am getting out and about. The major challenge at the moment is to find the ten best sunday lunch pubs. Any suggestions? I'll swap you the ones I've found.
Nice to meet you TonyK, good luck with your move. I don't envy you one bit.
Hi John, sorry to hear you are still having probs with that machine of yours, see you sunday mate.
Morning Annie, I see you are a probable for sunday, hope you can make it.
Have fun all (thats an order).

Yes!! but it is a Norfolk 14' x 30' garden. Just think of how many birds you can cram into that space.
My garden is 65' x 15' of nothing. Virtually no birds whatsoever. I'll swop ya!!

Hi Mike. "Snow Birds",Slate-colored Junco, also called Northern Junco. They are a lovely little bird. They were strictly a ground feeder for the first year here, but then little by little,I think it was from watching the other birds eat from the window feeder, now, they feed there too.
They are fun to watch. They twitter around and often vibrate their whole body for no reason I can determine. I thought it was some mating ritual, but they do it year round.
Your garden is about the size of my water garden. Our property is not considered big,it's in town. Still, it is not the size, but how many birds you attract, right? The English gardens always look so green and lush on TV,very different looking from most Gardens in our neck of the woods.
Nice to message with you here at this fine forum,LuBird

Sparrow count is now up to 12 + a pair of callared dove.
I am very pleased to see the increase in the spadger pop and intend to put up spadger boxes asap. Do I buy or make (can handle a bit of joinery) any suggestions?
